Fort Halifax Park...
I will be adding some pictures of the old Fort Halifax in the next couple of days. I just couldn't resist catching a couple of shots of this little sandpiper roaming around the parking lot. Nature just absolutely fascinates me. I haven't had the chance to see one of these little cuties up close since the old sand pit at the farm across from where I grew up.

The Fort...
To see this little fort, one would never believe that during the "Great Flood of '87" it was almost completely washed down the Kennebec River. The majority of it was recovered. Only a very few logs actually had to be reproduced for the reconstruction. There was another "professional" photographer doing some shooting there. Rather than get in his way, I'll get some others later. This is just a little taste of "Fort Halifax".

The Park...
These are a couple of pictures showing the beautiful Halifax Park. There is so much more to it that can't be seen. It covers about three square acres and borders on both the Kennebec and the Sebasticook Rivers. The annual Fourth of July Celebration here attracts vendors and visitors from all over the area. I've thrown in a couple of pictures taken from the banks of the park going up the Kennebec toward the Hathaway Complex and then back toward the new bypass bridge. The final one shows the exact point at which the two rivers converge.
