Update for 10-12 & 10-13-08
The ridge of high pressure that brought the sunshine to Maine Saturday, and today is now located southeast of New England, and is slowly moving off towards the southeast. A "Backdoor Cold Front" will slide from northeast to southwest across New England tonight, and early Monday. A band of clouds, and scattered showers will accompany the front's passage through our region, with the bulk of any shower activity across Maine occurring late tonight, and early Monday morning. High pressure will begin to slip south from Quebec into Northern New England later tomorrow, and that will cause morning clouds to give way to partly sunny skies across Maine. A north to northeast wind tomorrow behind the cold front will bring somewhat cooler temps to our region.
The high to our north tomorrow will slip off to our southeast tomorrow night, and Tuesday morning. Southwest winds on the backside of the high will bring somewhat milder temps to Maine on Tuesday. A new cold front will bring increasing clouds, and maybe a few showers to Maine later Tuesday afternoon, and night as it crosses the state. More high pressure arrives in New England on Wednesday, and that will allow skies to turn partly sunny to mostly sunny. A stronger cold front could bring a few showers to parts of Maine later Thursday followed by fair, but much cooler weather by next weekend.
Tonight: Increasing clouds, scattered showers developing late, with low temps in the low to mid 40s.
Monday: Any early showers ending, then becoming partly sunny, and high temps in the mid 50s to low 60s.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with increasing afternoon clouds, and high temps in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
Wednesday: Becoming partly to mostly sunny, with high temps in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
Thursday: Variably cloudy, breezy, possible scattered showers, and high temps in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
Friday: Partly sunny, breezy, and cooler with high temps in the 50s.
