Update for 10-11 & 10-12-08

Post by Outspoken on Sat Oct 11, 2008 6:19 pm

High pressure will keep things nice and quiet tonight with clear skies and a light northwest wind. Expect overnight lows to bottom out a couple degrees either side of 40°. High pressure will slide southward through New England Sunday headed towards the mid-Atlantic region by Sunday evening. As the high moves away from our region, clouds associated with an upper level disturbance will begin to move in from the north.. Skies will start out mostly sunny Sunday and remain sunny through early afternoon or so before the clouds begin to increase by mid-late afternoon. The upper level disturbance is forecast to drop through the state Sunday night and will bring us a few showers during the overnight hours.

Another area of high pressure will build in from the north on Columbus Day. We may start with a few lingering clouds Monday morning, otherwise as high pressure moves in skies will average partly to mostly sunny throughout the day. Temperatures will remain seasonable with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Tuesday looks like a nice and mild day. We'll have high pressure to our east and low pressure approaching from the west. This will set us up with a good southwest flow which will likely push temperatures into the 60s to possible near 70° Tuesday with enough sunshine. As low pressure approaches from the west, clouds will be on the increase and we may see a few showers enter northern and western parts of the state during the afternoon, otherwise Tuesday looks dry for most locations.

After a quiet day Wednesday, another cold front will move through the state Thursday morning accompanied by a few showers. The front will move to our east quickly Thursday morning, allowing skies to clear out from west to east late morning into the afternoon.. Northwest winds will pick up on the backside of the front, ushering in some very cool air for Friday into the weekend.

Tonight: mostly clear with lows between 36°-44°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Tomorrow: mostly sunny thru early afternoon followed by increasing clouds. Highs between 55°-62°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Sunday Night: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Skies will begin to clear out from north to south after midnight. Lows between 41°-46°. Light and variable wind.

Columbus Day: a few lingering clouds early then partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Tuesday: partly sunny during the morning then increasing clouds during the afternoon. A few scattered afternoon showers possible mainly over northern and western locations: Mild with highs in the 60s.

Wednesday: mostly sunny with highs in the mid-50s to near 60°.

Thursday: a few morning showers possible then clearing. Becoming breezy. Highs in the mid-50s to low 60s.
