As you can tell by the above statement there has been lots of activity in the TV5 Forecast Center this afternoon. While showers and storms were pretty widespread across our viewing area, one cell in particular stuck out. That cell is the one that moved through downeast this afternoon. It brought ¾'' hail to Hancock and 3+'' of rain in other spots. The heavy rain combined with already moist soil caused flash floods in both Ellsworth and Blue Hill. The damage in Blue hill was more pronounced. Here is an except released by the national weather service on the damage done in Blue Hill: "REPORT OF WATER UP TO THE LEVEL OF ONE FOOT ON THE OUTSIDE OF A DOWNTOWN BUILDING IN BLUE HILL. SIDEWALKS WASHED OUT. WATER BRIEFLY UP TO A CAR WINDOW, IN A LOW SPOT, NEAR THE BLUE HILL HOSPITAL"
Look for showers and storms to continue across the state through tonight. The heaviest is already through but you can still expect 1'' + in some areas that get into a train of storms. Lows will be near 60°. Monday's forecast is a little better, but not much. Showers and storms will linger downeast through the afternoon. The west will start to dry out, and we could see some breaks of sun during the late afternoon. Scattered light showers will persist into Tuesday afternoon, otherwise look for variably cloudy skies on Tuesday. We finally see some sun on Wednesday! Look for partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 70's.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms are likely. Low on either side of 60°.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, chance of showers and storms downeast. High in the mid to upper 70's.
Tuesday: Variably cloudy. High in the mid 70's.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy. High in the mid to upper 70's.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Showers possible. High in the mid 70's.
Friday: Mostly cloudy. Showers possible. High in the mid 70's.
