Update for 06-08 & 06-09-08

Highs ran all to way to 90° in some parts of the state today. Heat coupled with humidity made for heat indexes above 90°. Some showers could pop up overnight, but they will be widely scattered and mostly to the north. A weak cold front will traverse the state overnight and winds will switch to the northwest. That means the sunniest skies will be in the northwest portion of our viewing area, with the rest of us seeing variably cloudy skies as the cold front gets hung up near the coast. Highs on Monday will be 5-7° cooler than they were on Sunday, with highs in the greater Bangor area settling in the mid 80's. Tuesday will start off partly cloudy but cloud will be increasing later in the day. The increase in clouds will be in response to a warm front that sets up to our north and a cold front to our west. Highs will be in the upper 70's to lower 80's. Showers and thunderstorms will arrive by late in the afternoon and continue through the evening. Showers could last as long as early Wednesday before we see gradual clearing and highs in the 60's to mid 70's. Thursday and Friday look gorgeous. A ridge will build over the east coast and that means mostly sunny skies and summer like temperatures. Highs in both days will be in the upper 70's to mid 80's.

Monday: Variably cloudy. High in the 80's. Slight chance of showers downeast.

Tuesday: Increasing clouds. Showers and thundershowers. High 74°-84°.

Wednesday: Early showers. Some breaks of sun in the afternoon. High in the low to mid 70's.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. High in the 70's to 80°.

Friday: Partly cloudy. High 75°-85°.
