Update for 06-07 & 06-08-08

Post by Outspoken on Sat Jun 07, 2008 4:35 pm

Warmer air is making its way into Maine from the south. Southerly winds overnight will keep low temperatures in the upper 50's and provide for lots of fog across the forecast area. Sunday will easily be the warmest day of the year so far. Early sunshine will quickly burn off any fog that formed overnight, and high temperatures will have a head start to their afternoon peak. Expect highs to range from the mid 80's to even topping 90° in some spots. Along with the heat comes the humidity. Dew points will be in the mid to upper 60's and that means if you're active outside you will feel very sticky. With high heat and humidity also comes the chance of pop up thunderstorms during the afternoon. The most likely spots for thundershowers will be our northern viewing areas as a cold front dips down from Canada. The weak cold front will move across the state during the evening. Lows don't offer much relief on Sunday night, as they will only fall to the mid 60's.

The front stalls off the coast Monday, which puts us in a position that will be vulnerable to any energy moving through the upper levels up the atmosphere. Highs will be in the 80's under variably cloudy skies, but rain showers and thunder storms are a definite possibility Monday afternoon. Unsettled weather sticks around Tuesday and early Wednesday with a chance of showers on both of those days. Thursday looks mostly sunny with highs in the 70's.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Dense fog in some areas. Low in the upper 50's. South wind 5-10mph

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Hot and Humid. Chance of afternoon T-Storms. High in the 80's to 90°. West wind 5-10mph.

Monday: Variably cloudy. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible. High in the 80's.

Tuesday: Variably cloudy. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible. High in the mid to upper 70's.

Wednesday: Early showers. Some breaks of sun in the afternoon. High in the mid 70's.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. High in the 70's.
