Update for 06-01 & 06-02-08
Early sunshine and an upper level disturbance caused pop up rain and thunder showers today. Luckily only one severe thunderstorm warning was issued with a cell that passed south of Houlton. High temperatures were generally 10 degrees warmer than yesterday's highs, climbing to an impressive 76° in Bangor.
Clouds will stick around tonight and showers will weaken as the sun goes down. Another small disturbance will pass very late tonight and early Monday morning. Skies will become partly cloudy by Monday afternoon when a small ridge noses in from the east. The period of sunshine will be short lived though. A cold front sweeps in from the northwest later Monday into early Tuesday and that will bring the chance of showers back into the forecast.
After the early round of showers Tuesday some clearing is expected as dry air moves over the Pine Tree State. Low pressure will be lurking to our west Tuesday afternoon and should arrive in our neck of the woods by late Wednesday morning. The heaviest rain will likely be off to the south, and if this system shifts to the south we could see just sprinkles. Conversely, if it shifts to the north then interior Maine could take a pretty big hit. Thursday and Friday look good. Stable conditions will lead to highs in the mid to upper 70's for Thursday, and the low to mid 70's for Friday.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Lingering rain showers ending late. Low in the low to mid 50's. West wind 5-10mph.
Monday: AM showers. Then variably cloudy. Then PM showers. High in the upper 60's to low 70's.
Tuesday: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs around 70°.
Wednesday: Rain, heaviest south. High in the 60's.
Thursday: Mostly sunny. High in the 70's.
Friday: Partly cloudy. Clouds increase later. High in the 70's.
