Forecast for evening 01-05 & 01-06-07

Post by Outspoken on Sun Jan 06, 2008 8:11 am

From the TV5 Forecast Center:

Warmer air moving into New England combined with a weak disturbance, will result in cloudy skies and some scattered light snow showers for the night tonight. Clouds will stick around for the morning hours Sunday but we should see some breaks of sunshine developing during the afternoon as a ridge of high pressure builds into the area. Light west to southwesterly winds on Sunday will help push temperatures well into the 30s which will be an average of about 10° above the season normals. This time of year we should see high temperatures in the mid to upper 20s range.

Cloudy skies are expected Monday and we may see a few rain showers during the afternoon as well. Highs will top off well above normal with readings near or slightly above the 40°. A warm front is forecast to cross the state late Monday night and early Tuesday keeping clouds around and bringing a few rain showers into northern Maine. Areas south of Greenville and Millinocket may see some breaks of sunshine Tuesday.

Our next significant storm will arrive on Wednesday. Temperatures will be warm enough so that precipitation falls mainly as rain. A few light rain showers will fall during the morning followed by steadier rain during the afternoon. Colder air coming in behind the system may allow the rain to change to snow before ending Wednesday evening, especially over northern and northwestern areas. Cooler and drier weather will return on Thursday as high pressure builds into the area.

Tonight: mostly cloudy. Scattered snow showers. Lows between 19°-26°. Light south to southwest wind.

Sunday: mostly cloudy during the morning followed by sunny breaks developing during the afternoon. Mild with highs between 34°-40°. Light west wind.

Monday: some morning sun possible then mostly cloudy. Scattered afternoon rain showers possible. Highs in the mid-30s to low 40s.

Tuesday: mostly cloudy with a few rain showers possible from Greenville to Millinocket and points northward, partly to mostly cloudy elsewhere. Highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s.

Wednesday: mostly cloudy. Scattered rain showers during the morning then rain likely during the afternoon. Rain may change to snow before ending late especially over northern and northwestern locations. Breezy. Highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s.

Thursday: partly cloudy and a bit cooler. Breezy. Highs in the mid to upper 30s.
