Forecast evening of 01-04 & 01-05-08
From the TV5 Forecast Center:
The winds across the Northeast are slowly shifting from the northwest into the southwest as strong high pressure builds off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline. The frigid weather that was over New England the past two days has begun to shift off to our east, and milder air currently located to our west, and southwest will be moving into Maine this weekend.
The high off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline will continue to build through Tuesday of next week, and that will allow a southwest winds across Maine too continue. The southwest breeze across our region will help draw milder air up into the Northeast early next week, and that should allow many parts of Maine too climb into the low to mid 40s Monday, Tuesday, and possible even Wednesday. A storm moving north into Central Canada will bring the risk of precipitation back to Maine during the middle of next week, but with the atmosphere aloft rather warm it appears most of the precipitation will fall as rain showers as the storms trailing cold front slips east through New England later Wednesday night. Colder, but not frigid air will build back into Maine Thursday, and Friday, as winds behind the front shift back around to the west.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, lighter wind, and not as cold, with low temps in the single numbers to lower teens.
Saturday: Partly cloudy, with high temps in the upper 20s to mid 30s.
Sunday: Partly sunny, and milder, with high temps in the 30s to lower 40s.
Monday: Partly cloudy, and mild, with high temps in the mid 30s north, and lower to mid 40s south.
Tuesday: Variably cloudy, few scattered rain showers possible, with high temps in the mid 30s to mid 40s from north to south.
Wednesday: More clouds than sun, scattered showers likely, and mild, with high temps in the upper 30s to mid 40s.
