Forecast 12-26-07

From The TV5 Forecast Center:

High pressure provided the state of Maine with a beautiful and mild day on Christmas. That high will be relatively short lived as it weakens and pushes east into the Atlantic. It finally loses its grip on the east coast by tonight, allowing clouds to roll in around 9pm. Increased cloud cover tonight will hold temperatures in the low to mid 20's. Clouds will continue to dominate the forecast Thursday and will not allow highs to push much higher than the upper 20's. Snow will start in the afternoon and continue through the night, tapering off by Friday morning. Snowfall totals will be between a dusting and 1.5''. High pressure will briefly build back in for Friday, possibly breaking up the cloud cover for a short period, but snow will be back in the forecast by Friday night. At the moment it looks like snow could mix with rain downeast until Saturday night, when cooler temperatures force a switch back to snow. It is hard to say how much snow we will get on Saturday this early, but if the rain/snow mix period is short expect 3+ inches.

Today: Partly to mostly sunny. The most sun will be south. Highs in the mid to upper 30's. Clouds arrive tonight. Lows in the lower 20's.

Thursday: Light snow. Highs in the upper 20's. Total accumulations between a dusting and 1 1/2''. Lows in the lower 20's.

Friday: Any snow ends by morning. Mostly cloudy skies with some breaks of sun. Clouds increase after 3pm. Highs in the mid 30's.

Saturday: Snow. Highs around freezing. Rain/snow mix possible along the coast.

Sunday: Partly to mostly cloudy. Mild. Highs slightly above freezing.
