Forecast 12-24-07

Post by Outspoken on Mon Dec 24, 2007 7:22 am

From the TV5 Forecast Center:

After a windy and rainy night across Maine, the weather will take a turn for the better today. Some wind gusts along the coast were in excess of 55mph, and some locations even picked up over a half-inch of rain in a short period of time. Through all that we still have our solid snow pack, although looking a little matted this morning. Temperatures will once again be above freezing for highs today, and will barely drop down below freezing tonight under partly cloudy skies. High pressure will start to build into the state by Christmas day, and that means skies will remain partly cloudy until at least Wednesday. A weak cold front moves through Wednesday night and could touch off some scattered snow showers, with less than one inch falling by the time Thursday rolls around. Highs will start off the week above freezing and will slowly decrease back to climate normals by early next week.

Travel Notes: While the roads may not be covered with snow, some areas will see some standing water due to snow clogged drainage grates. Also, lows will start getting below freezing later this week so black ice is a real problem. Remember to give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination and have a safe and happy holiday!

Today: Rain ends by late morning. Highs in the upper 30's. Winds from the west 10-15mph. Lows in the mid 20's.

Christmas: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the low to mid 30's. Lows in the teens.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 30's. Chance of snow overnight.

Thursday: Chance of snow early. Highs in the lower 30's.

Friday: Mostly sunny. High in the mid 30's.

Happy Holidays!
