Forecast 10-24-08

Post by Outspoken on Fri Oct 24, 2008 4:23 am

High pressure will stick around to give us another sunny day today. Temperatures will get back to normal or even slightly above normal this afternoon with highs in the 50s. We'll see great weather for the high school football games going on tonight. Expect clear skies throughout the games then through the remainder of the night. A few clouds will move into the state towards daybreak as our next storm system approaches from the south and west.

Our weekend will start dry Saturday. We'll see some sun to start Saturday morning followed by increasing clouds during the afternoon. The day will remain dry for most of us, although there is a slight chance of a shower over western parts of the state late in the afternoon into the evening hours. An area of low pressure passing to our west will push a cold front through the state Saturday night into early Sunday morning. This will bring us a round of moderate to heavy rainfall as it moves through. Expect some windy conditions with the frontal passage as well with south/southeasterly winds between 15-30 MPH. The rain will wind down early Sunday morning followed by clearing skies for the late morning and afternoon. Highs Sunday will reach the 50s.

An upper level disturbance will take residence over the northeastern U.S. for the early and middle part of next week. This means our weather will be a bit unsettled with clouds and scattered showers in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Cooler air will be moving into the region as well with highs in the upper 40s to mid- 50s Monday and in the 40s to near 50° Tuesday.

Today: sunny and pleasant. Highs between 51°-58°. Light winds will become southwest 5-10 MPH.

Tonight: mostly clear. Few clouds arriving towards dawn. Lows between 25°-34°. Light and variable wind.

Saturday: morning sunshine giving way to increasing clouds. A few showers possible late in the day over western areas otherwise expect a dry day. Highs in the 50s. South/southeast wind 5-10 MPH.

Sunday: morning rain ending then increasing sunshine. Breezy. Highs in the 50s.

Monday: some early sun possible then mostly cloudy. Scattered showers possible during the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

Tuesday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Breezy. Highs in the 40s to near 50°.
