Forecast 10-22-08
An area of low pressure spinning near the tip of Cape cod this morning will pull away from the New England coastline this morning. Scattered snow and rain showers associated with the storm will wind down by late morning/early afternoon as the storm moves away. Strong high pressure building in from the north will bring brightening skies from northwest to southeast across the state this afternoon. With strong high pressure building in from the north and low pressure exiting to our south and east, expect a strong northerly wind between 15°-25° with a few higher gusts. High temperatures today will hold steady, ranging from the low and mid-30s north to low and mid-40s towards the coast. With the wind factored in, it'll feel more like its in the upper 20s to low 30s at times. As high pressure builds towards New England tonight, skies will become clear and winds will diminish a bit.
High pressure will dominate the forecast for the end of the week. Thursday, Friday and Saturday will feature plenty of sunshine. Highs will top off in the 40s Tuesday and mainly in the 50s Friday and Saturday. Our next chance for wet weather will be Sunday as a strong storm system moves in from our west. It looks like Sunday will start out dry at this point with rain developing by afternoon from west to east across the state.
Today: mostly cloudy with scattered rain and snow showers tapering off. Brightening skies this afternoon from northwest to southeast across the state. Windy and chilly. High temperatures will hold steady between 36°-46°. North wind 15-25 MPH
Tonight: becoming clear. Lows in the 20s. North/northwest wind diminishing to 10-15 MPH.
Thursday: mostly sunny, still breezy with highs ranging from 44°-51°. North/northwest wind 10-15 MPH.
Friday: mostly sunny and a bit warmer with highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Saturday: mostly sunny with highs in the mid-50s to near 60°.
Sunday: some early sun possible then mostly cloudy with rain developing. Highs in the mid-50s to near 60°.
