Forecast 10-16-08
A cold front is forecast to cross the state today giving us cloudy skies and occasional showers. The showers will be most numerous this morning through mid-afternoon then taper off from west to east across the state late as the front moves off to our east. Many locations will pick up around .25" of rainfall by late in the day. Drier air coming in behind the front may allow for some sunny breaks mainly over northern and western areas late in the day. Drier and cooler weather will return for Friday as a ridge of high pressure moves in from the Great Lakes. Friday will feature mostly sunny skies with a gusty northwest wind. The northwest wind will usher a cooler airmass into the state with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s Friday afternoon. Friday night will be chilly with clear skies and temperatures expected to drop to the upper 20s and low 30s.
High pressure will control our weather over the upcoming weekend. We'll see lots of sunshine Saturday and temperatures will even be a few degrees cooler with highs topping off near 50°. Northwest winds will still be a bit breezy Saturday as well Expect a sunny day Sunday with a light wind. Highs will remain cool Sunday with temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s. High pressure will slide to our east on Monday allowing clouds ahead of an approaching cold front to begin moving into the state. It looks like we'll see a partly to mostly cloudy sky on Monday with mainly dry conditions. There may be a few showers late in the day for northern locations with dry conditions expected elsewhere.
Today: mostly cloudy with showers likely steadiest through mid-afternoon then tapering off from west to east across the state. Some breaks of sunshine possible late, mainly over northern and western parts of the state. Highs between 52°-58°. Light winds will become south/southwest 5-10 MPH.
Tonight: clearing skies with lows near 40°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.
Friday: mostly sunny, breezy and cooler. Highs between 48°-56°. Northwest winds 10-18 MPH with gusts to 25 MPH possible.
