Forecast 10-13-08

Post by Outspoken on Mon Oct 13, 2008 5:48 am

A weak disturbance dropping through the state this morning is giving us a damp start to this Monday. Conditions will improve though as the day progresses. Showers will wind down this morning from north to south across the state as the disturbance moves through and passes to our south and east. High pressure will slide southward from eastern Canada and help to clear things out later this morning into the afternoon. Skies will turn partly to mostly sunny from north to south across the state with coastal locations being the last spots to see the sun. High pressure will give us a quiet and cool night tonight. Skies will start clear then become partly cloudy late as another storm system approaches from the Great Lakes.

Tuesday will feature variably cloudy skies as clouds ahead of our next storm system arrive. It looks like most locations will remain dry despite the cloud cover, although we could see a few showers move into northern and northwestern locations late in the day. The cold front will cross the state Tuesday night with a few light showers. There may be a lingering shower downeast early Wednesday, otherwise we'll see partly to mostly sunny skies for the day.

Another weak cold front will cross the state on Thursday. This will set us up with cloudy skies and a couple of scattered light showers in spots throughout the day. The front will push to our east during the evening hours, bringing the shower threat to an end. Drier and cooler weather will follow for Friday. Much cooler air is forecast to arrive for the upcoming weekend.

Today: scattered showers ending this morning. Skies will turn partly to mostly sunny from north to south across the state later this morning into the afternoon. Highs between 54°-60°. North wind 5-10 MPH.

Tonight: clear start then becoming partly cloudy late. Lows between 38°-46°. Light and variable wind.

Tuesday: partly to mostly cloudy, most clouds north. A few late day showers possible over northern and northwestern areas. Afternoon highs between 58°- 64°. South wind 5-10 MPH.

Wednesday: an early shower downeast otherwise partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the 60s.

Thursday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs around 60°.

Friday: mix of sun and clouds. A bit cooler with highs in the low to mid-50s.
