Forecast 10-06-08
A disturbance is forecast to drop through the state today. After a sunny start, the disturbance moving through will combine with cold air in the mid-levels of the atmosphere to generate some cloudiness and may provide us with a sprinkle in spots this afternoon. Otherwise a quiet day is on tap with temperatures topping off in the 50s. Clouds will stick around this evening then clear out during the night tonight as the disturbance passes to our south and east.
Strong high pressure will build into New England for Tuesday and Wednesday providing us with a couple of beautiful sunny days here in Maine. Temperatures will warm up a little bit as well with highs in the mid- 50s to around 60° Tuesday then upper 50s to low 60s Wednesday. Even milder temperatures are on the way for the end of the week. A weak warm front will pass through the state Thursday accompanied by some cloudiness as well as a few light showers. The best chance for showers Thursday will be over northern and western locations. Southwesterly winds will help push temperatures into the 60s to near 70°. High pressure will regain control of our forecast Friday with sunshine and highs in the 60s to near 70°.
Today: sunny start then becoming partly to mostly cloudy. Slight chance of a sprinkle in spots this afternoon. High temperatures in the 50s. Northwest wind 10-15 MPH with gusts to 20 MPH possible.
Tonight: partly to mostly cloudy to start then clearing. Lows between 33°-39°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.
Tuesday: mostly sunny and breezy. Highs between 54°-62°. Northwest wind 10-20 MPH.
Wednesday: sunny and a bit milder. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
