Forecast 10-02-08

Post by Outspoken on Thu Oct 02, 2008 5:45 am

Showers will continue today, steadiest during the morning then tapering off from southwest to northeast across the state by early afternoon or so as an occluded front passes through the state. Rain could be heavy at times this morning, especially for downeast areas. Winds will turn to the west/southwest behind the front, helping to dry things out a bit this afternoon with some breaks of sun expected. Temperatures will be seasonable today with highs in the mid-50s to low 60s. Cooler air moving in behind the departing storm will allow temperatures to drop into the upper 30s to low 40s during the overnight tonight.

A cold front is forecast to cross the state on Friday. After some morning sunshine, clouds will move back in and we may see a few showers in spots Friday afternoon. Cooler air will continue to filter into the state Friday night into the weekend, setting the stage for a very fall-like weekend. A weak ridge of high pressure will slide through New England Saturday giving us a good amount of sunshine. Saturday's forecast will feature partly to mostly sunny skies with highs mainly in the 50s. Pleasant, fall weather is expected to continue for Sunday and Monday as well.

Today: scattered showers, steadiest downeast this morning tapering off from southwest to northeast across the state by early afternoon. Rain may be heavy at times. Brightening skies this afternoon. High temperatures between 55°-64°. Winds will become west/southwest 10-15 MPH.

Tonight: clear to partly cloudy. Lows between 37°-44°. West/southwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Friday: becoming cloudy. A few scattered showers possible during the afternoon. Highs will range from 52°-60°. Southwest wind 10-15 MPH.

Saturday and Sunday: partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s north, low to mid-50s elsewhere.

Monday: partly cloudy with highs in the 50s.
