Forecast 09-25-08

Post by Outspoken on Thu Sep 25, 2008 5:41 am

High pressure will provide us with another beautiful, sunny day today. Skies will average mostly sunny across the state today with high temperatures reaching 2°-3° or so higher than Wednesday's which will put most locations near the 70° mark this afternoon. Some high cloudiness ahead of our next weathermaker will mix in with the sunshine this afternoon over southern and coastal parts of the state. Clouds will continue to increase during the night tonight especially south of Greenville and Millinocket.

High pressure will hang on to keep things a bit brighter and drier for northern parts of the state Friday while areas further south see more in the way of clouds and some rain developing during the afternoon as moisture associated with a storm over the Carolinas moves into New England. Clouds and rainfall will move into northern Maine Friday night.

Another storm currently centered near the Bahamas, will trek northward across the Atlantic to bring us a second round of rainfall later Saturday through Sunday morning. This second batch of rain will be more tropical in nature and could be heavy at times. At this point it looks like most of the state will see a couple inches of rainfall from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning, with the heaviest amounts occurring over the eastern half of the state. Steadier rainfall Sunday morning will taper to showers by afternoon as the storm pulls away from the region. Drier and brighter weather will return for Monday.

Today: mostly sunny. A few high clouds will move into southern and coastal areas this afternoon. Daytime high temperatures will range from 66°-73°. South wind 5-10 MPH..

Tonight: increasing clouds. Lows in the 40s. Light south wind becoming southeast.

Friday: partly sunny from Greenville to Millinocket and points northward, mostly cloudy elsewhere. Rain developing mainly during the afternoon for areas south of Greenville and Millinocket. Highs in the 60s. Southeast wind 10 MPH.

Saturday: periods of rain. Breezy. High in the 60s.

Sunday: morning rain will taper to showers by afternoon. Highs in the 60s to near 70°.

Monday: mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the 60s to near 70°.
