Forecast 09-23-08
A large bubble of high pressure is firmly in place over the northeast. The high will provide us with mostly sunny skies for the next few days. Highs today will be in the 60's and winds will be calm. The high will slowly start to move off to our east tonight. The east movement will set up a light west wind overnight. While a light wind out of the west may seem minor, its actually a pretty good thing. That wind will mix up the atmosphere and keep the coldest air from settling to the ground tonight. Regardless, temperatures will still get pretty cold in some areas, with the spread in the 30's to near 40° overnight. The high will continue to push east of us over the next few days. It will still provide sunshine through Thursday, but by Friday we will see increased clouds. Friday afternoon bring the chance of showers as a system moves in from our south. This system is currently in the tropics, so it will be bringing PLENTY of moisture up the eastern seaboard. There are a number of factors that will affect the forecast of this weekend low. The first being how far east the high over us moves. It the high sticks close to Maine then we will see most of the rain miss to our west, but if the high pulls just the right distance from the coast, the low will track along its edge and bring us heavy rain for Saturday afternoon.
