Forecast 08-19-08
A cold front will pass through the state this morning, providing us with a mostly cloudy start to the day. Scattered showers will accompany the frontal passage this morning as well. It looks like the front will clear the state by late morning or so with skies turning partly to mostly sunny in the wake of the front. Gusty northwest winds will usher a cooler airmass into the area today with highs only topping off in the 60s to around 70°. Skies will be clear to partly cloudy tonight and with the cooler airmass in place, overnight lows will drop into the 40s in most locales. Some clouds wrapping around the backside of our departing storm system will graze northern and eastern parts of the state Wednesday especially during the first half of the day. Otherwise high pressure building towards New England Wednesday will provide us a mostly sunny day. Northwest winds will keep temperatures on the cool side with highs in the upper 60s to mid- 70s.
High pressure will dominate our forecast for the end of the week. A few clouds associated with warmer air in the mid-levels of the atmosphere will be with us to start out Thursday morning with skies turning mostly sunny as the morning wears on. We'll see lots of sunshine both Friday and Saturday with high temperatures topping off mainly in the 80s for the end of the week.
Today: scattered morning showers then brightening skies. Breezy and cooler. High temperatures will only reach 62°-72°. Northwest winds 10-15 MPH with higher gusts.
Tonight: clear to partly cloudy. Cool with lows between 44°-50°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.
Wednesday: partly to mostly sunny. High temperatures between 66°-75°. Northwest wind 10-15 MPH.
Thursday: few morning clouds then mostly sunny. Warmer with highs in the mid-70s to low 80s.
Friday: sunny and warm. Highs in the 80s.
Saturday: lots of sun. Highs in the upper 70s to mid- 80s.
