Forecast 08-20-08
High pressure building towards New England Wednesday will provide us with mostly sunny skies today. Some clouds wrapping around the backside of an area of low pressure centered to our east, will affect northern and eastern areas today. Northwest winds will remain breezy today, keeping us on the cool side with temperatures topping off in the mid-60s to low 70s this afternoon.
High pressure will dominate our forecast for the end of the week. A few clouds associated with warmer air in the mid-levels of the atmosphere will be with us to start out Thursday morning with skies turning mostly sunny as the morning wears on. We'll see lots of sunshine both Friday and Saturday with high temperatures in the upper 70s to mid-80s for the end of the week. Clouds will be increasing across the state Sunday as a cold front approaches from the west. Showers and thunderstorms associated with the front will move into the state Sunday afternoon and evening especially northern and western areas.
Today: partly to mostly sunny. Most of the clouds will move across areas to the north and east of Bangor. Still cool with high temperatures between 65°-74°. Northwest wind 10-20 MPH.
Tonight: clear to partly cloudy. Cool with lows between 44°-54°. Light west/northwest wind.
Thursday: few morning clouds then mostly sunny. Warmer with highs between 75°-83°. Light winds will become southwest 5-10 MPH.
Friday: sunny and warm. Highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s.
Saturday: lots of sun. Muggy. Highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s.
Sunday: increasing clouds. Humid. Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms especially over northern and western locations. Highs in the mid-70s to low 80s.
