Forecast 08-15-08

Post by Outspoken on Fri Aug 15, 2008 5:46 am

Patchy dense fog will reduce visibilities again in spots this morning. Once the fog burns off, we'll see mostly sunny skies this morning turning partly sunny this afternoon. An upper level low approaching New England this afternoon will be enough to trigger a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms here in Maine. We'll see clouds and a few showers tonight as the upper low continues to push towards the region.

The upper low will finally cross through Maine on Saturday giving us clouds and scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. It won't be a washout by any means though as we should see some breaks of sunshine Saturday afternoon. Sunday looks to be the better of the weekend days as the upper low moves off to our east, we'll see sunshine and temperatures reaching near 80° Sunday afternoon.

A cold front will drop through the state on Monday bringing us increasing clouds and a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms. High pressure will build from Ontario towards New England on Tuesday. This will give us some beautiful weather Tuesday with lots of sunshine and highs in the 70s. High pressure will stick around for several days next week, setting us up with a nice stretch of weather for the middle and end of next week. Winds will turn to the west/southwest as well, bringing warmer temperatures into the region.

Today: morning fog then mostly sunny, becoming partly sunny this afternoon. A few showers and thunderstorms possible this afternoon with the best chance being over western and northwestern locations. High temperatures will range from 73°-80°. West wind 5-10 MPH becoming south.

Tonight: becoming cloudy. Scattered showers. Areas of fog. Lows in the 50s. Light south wind.

Saturday: mostly cloudy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Sunny breaks developing during the afternoon. Highs in the 70s. South/southwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Sunday: partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the mid-70s to low 80s.

Monday: increasing clouds. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and evening. Highs in the 70s to near 80°.

Tuesday: mostly sunny with highs in the 70s.
