Forecast 08-07-08
The threat for showers will continue for today thru Sunday as an area of low pressure spins over southern Quebec combined with an upper level low pressure center located just a bit further west. These two systems will keep our weather cloudy with a good chance for showers over the next few days. With a cooler airmass in place and with clouds prevailing in the forecast, high temperatures will remain below normal the next few days as well. This time of year, high temperatures across the state should be in the mid and upper 70s but instead we'll see highs in the 60s today and Friday then near 70° over the weekend.
The surface and upper level low will begin to pull away from the area early next week which should allow for some decent sunshine to return to the forecast on Monday. With some more sunshine expected, temperatures will top off closer to seasonal norms with highs in the 70s Monday afternoon. Showers return to the forecast Tuesday with a cold front forecast to cross the state.
Today: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs in the 60s. Light winds will become southeast 5-10 MPH.
Tonight: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Patchy fog. Lows between 52°-58°. Light SE wind.
Friday: showers likely, an afternoon thunderstorm possible. Highs in the 60s to near 70°. Southeast wind 5-10 MPH.
Saturday & Sunday: partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers, especially during the afternoon. An afternoon thunderstorm possible. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Monday: morning clouds giving way to partly cloudy skies. Slight chance of a brief shower in spots. Highs in the 70s.
