Forecast 08-06-08

Post by Outspoken on Wed Aug 06, 2008 5:50 am

We're off to a dry, cool start to our Wednesday. Morning sunshine will fade behind increasing clouds from west to east across the state today as an area of low pressure approaches from New York State. Showers associated with the storm system will begin to move their way into western parts of Maine this morning then spread further east this afternoon. High pressure centered over Labrador will help keep things dry over eastern Maine while the best chance for showers occurs for areas along and west of a line from Bangor to Greenville. Some of the rain may be heavy at times especially over far western Maine. Expect scattered showers in all locations overnight tonight with some patchy fog developing.

The threat for showers will continue for Thursday, Friday and Saturday as an upper level low pressure center spins over southern Quebec. Showers each of these days will occur mainly during the afternoon and evening hours when the atmosphere will most unstable then subside a bit during the overnight. Some drier weather is possible later in the weekend as the upper level disturbance begins to slide out of the region.

Today: increasing clouds from west to east across the state. The best chance for sunshine will be to the east/northeast of Bangor with more clouds to the west. Scattered showers especially along and west of a line from Bangor to Greenville. Afternoon high temperatures between 65°-72°. Southeast wind 5-10 MPH.

Tonight: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Patchy fog. Lows between 53°-58°. Southeast wind 5-10 MPH becoming east.

Thursday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers especially during the afternoon. Highs in the 60s to near 70°. Southeast wind 5-10 MPH.

Friday and Saturday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers, especially during the afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Sunday: partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. Highs in the 70s.
