Forecast 08-05-08
A ridge of high pressure will build into New England today, setting us up with a pleasant dry Tuesday. Northerly winds will usher a cooler, drier airmass into the region, resulting in below normal temperatures this afternoon with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Unfortunately the sunshine and dry conditions won't last long, another storm system will head our way for Wednesday. Expect a dry start to Wednesday with a little morning sun possible then clouds will take over and showers and thunderstorms will arrive from late morning through the afternoon. This next storm will redevelop to the south and east of Massachusetts Wednesday then move out to sea Wednesday night. Another batch of upper level energy will then move into the region for Thursday and Friday keeping us under the gun for scattered showers and thunderstorms through the end of the week.
Today: partly to mostly sunny. A bit cooler with high temperatures between 67°-74°. North wind 5-10 MPH.
Tonight: partly cloudy start then increasing clouds late. Lows will bottom out between 47°-57°. Light and variable wind.
Wednesday: any early sunshine will give way to increasing clouds. Scattered showers arriving during the afternoon especially along and west of a line from Bangor to Greenville. High temperatures will range from 66°-73°. Light winds will become southeast 5-10 MPH.
Thursday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs in the 60s.
Friday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs in the 70s.
Saturday: partly to mostly cloudy. Scattered showers, mainly during the afternoon. Highs in the 70s.
