Forecast 07-08-08
Low clouds and fog in spots early morning will burn off and give way to another sunny, warm and humid day. There may be enough instability this afternoon for a shower or thunderstorm to pop up in spots but my thinking is that most areas will likely remain dry. A few clouds will move in this afternoon with a storm system approaching from the north and west but all in all, sunshine is expected to prevail today. A few showers will be possible tonight over northern areas with the storm system in the vicinity otherwise expect variably cloudy skies with patchy fog tonight.
A cold front is forecast to move through the state Wednesday afternoon and night. Showers and thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon and evening hours with the frontal passage. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has put us in the "slight risk" category for severe weather Wednesday so we'll keep an eye on the thunderstorm development. The main threat with any thunderstorms that develop will be heavy downpours and gusty winds. The front will pass to our east early Thursday giving us some clouds and lingering showers to start the day Thursday. Things will tend to dry out and brighten up as Thursday wears on with west/northwesterly winds in the wake of the front ushering a cooler, less humid airmass into the region.
Sunshine will be out in full force Friday and Saturday. Friday will feature very comfortable conditions with lots of sunshine and highs near 80°. Temperatures will be a bit warmer Saturday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s under sunny skies. Humidity levels will creep back up this weekend as winds shift back to the southwest.
Today: patchy low clouds and fog early this morning then becoming mostly sunny, warm and humid. Skies will turn partly sunny this afternoon with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in spots, although most areas will likely remain dry. Highs near 80° along the coast, mid to upper 80s inland. Southwest wind 8-15 MPH becoming south.
Tonight: partly to mostly cloudy with patchy fog. A few showers possible over northern areas. Lows between 63°-69°. South/southwest wind 5-10 MPH.
Wednesday: variably cloudy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Warm and humid with afternoon high temperatures between 78°-88°. Southwest wind 10-15 MPH.
Thursday: becoming partly cloudy. A few showers possible. Cooler and turning less humid. High temperatures will top off in the mid-70s to around 80°.
Friday: mostly sunny. Highs in the mid-70s to around 80°.
Saturday: mostly sunny and more humid with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
