Forecast 06-09-08
A weak cold front will traverse the state during the early morning hours Monday. The sunniest skies will be in the northwest portion of our viewing area, with the rest of us seeing variably cloudy skies as the cold front gets hung up near the coast. Highs today will be 5-7° cooler than they were on Sunday, with highs in the greater Bangor area settling in the mid 80's. While it won't be as hot as Sunday the risk of sunburn is considerably higher. The UV index is set at 9 by the EPA. That means you should limit your exposure to the sun during the afternoon hours. Also, SPF 15+ is recommended for spending any extended period of time outdoors.
Tuesday is looking more and more like a cloudy day. The increase in clouds will be in response to a warm front that sets up to our north and a cold front to our west. There is a chance of midday showers and T- storms for the northern portions of our viewing area. Highs will be in the upper 70's to lower 80's. More widespread showers and thunderstorms will arrive by the early evening hours and continue into the late night. Showers could last as long as early Wednesday before we see gradual clearing and highs in the 60's to mid 70's.
Thursday and Friday still look gorgeous. A ridge will build over the east coast and that means mostly sunny skies and summer like temperatures. Highs on both days will be in the upper 70's to mid 80's.
Today: Variably cloudy. Most sun north. High in the 80's. Afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms along the coast.
Tuesday: Increasing clouds. Showers and thundershowers. High 74°-84°.
Wednesday: Early showers. Some breaks of sun in the afternoon. High in the low to mid 70's.
Thursday: Mostly sunny. High in the 70's to 80°.
Friday: Partly cloudy. High 75°-85°.
Saturday: Increasing clouds. High in the 70's.
