forecast 06-06-08
Warmer air beginning to move into the mid-levels of the atmosphere ahead of an approaching warm front, will result in clouds and scattered showers for today. With the clouds and showers combined with a southerly breeze today, high temperatures will be running below normal with readings in the upper 50s to mid-60s. The warm front will gradually lift northward through New England during Saturday, allowing much warmer and more humid air to move into our region. As the warm front moves through, we could see a few showers and thunderstorms in spots Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will top off in the low 70s along the coast Saturday while inland areas reach the mid-70s to low 80s.
With the warm front to the north of the state Sunday, conditions are expected to be even warmer and more humid. We'll see hazy sunshine throughout the day Sunday with temperatures near 80° along the coast and in the mid-80s to near 90° for inland areas. A cold front approaching from the northwest may trigger a few showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon. The cold front will enter northern Maine on Monday giving us a better chance for some showers and thunderstorms during the day. Otherwise conditions will remain hazy, warm and humid for Monday as well. The front will finally cross the state Tuesday with increasing clouds and showers and thunderstorms arriving during the afternoon. Behind the front, cooler, more comfortable air will move in for the middle and end of next week.
Today: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Cool as high temperatures will only range from 57°-65°. South/southwest wind 5-15 MPH.
Tonight: early showers then becoming partly cloudy. Lows between 50°-57°. Light south/southwest wind.
Saturday: partly cloudy. A few afternoon showers or thunderstorms possible. Warmer and more humid. Highs in the low 70s along the coast, mid-70s to low 80s inland. South/southwest wind 8-13 MPH.
Sunday: hazy sunshine, warm & humid. Slight chance of an afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible. Highs near 80° along the coast, 80s to near 90° inland.
Monday: partly cloudy, warm and humid. Scattered showers and a thunderstorm possible mainly during the afternoon. Highs near 80° coast, 80s to near 90° inland.
Tuesday: increasing clouds. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible. Highs in the mid-70s to low 80s.
