forecast 06-05-08

Post by Outspoken on Thu Jun 05, 2008 6:14 am

An area of high pressure over east-central Quebec this morning will gradually move south/southeast into the Canadian Maritimes today, allowing skies to brighten up across the state with the sunniest conditions prevailing over northern areas. With drier and brighter conditions today, high temperatures will be more seasonable, ranging from the mid 60s to lower 70s.

The stalled front to our south and west will work its way back to the north Friday and Saturday. As the warm front approaches, we'll see more clouds coming into the region tonight through Friday along with some scattered showers. The warm front will actually move through the state on Saturday, giving us a chance for a few afternoon showers or thunderstorms on its way through and allowing warmer, more humid air to move in as well. Under partly cloudy skies, high temperatures both Sunday and Monday will likely reach into the 80s away from the coastline with 70s expected for coastal locales. Expect an afternoon shower or thunderstorm to develop in spots both Sunday and Monday as well.

Today: an early morning shower possible otherwise brightening skies as the day progresses. The bulk of the sunshine will be over northern locations. Highs between 65°-72°. Northeast wind 5-10 MPH becoming southeast.

Tonight: becoming cloudy. Few showers arriving after midnight, mainly over northern and northwestern areas. Lows between 46°-54°. Light southeast wind.

Friday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers possible especially north of the Bangor area. Afternoon high temperatures between 58°-68°, coolest along the coast. South wind 7-12 MPH.

Saturday: partly cloudy. An afternoon shower or thunderstorm possible. Warmer and more humid. Highs in the low 70s along the coast, mid-70s to low 80s inland.

Sunday: partly cloudy, warm and humid. An afternoon shower or thunderstorm possible. Highs will top off in the mid-70s along the coast, upper 70s to mid-80s inland.

Monday: partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
