Forecast 05-29-08
A cold front will move across the state this afternoon and this evening, bringing us some cloudiness and a few showers today. The thickest clouds and best chance for showers will occur mainly over areas north of Dover-Foxcroft and Lincoln. Drier and brighter conditions can be expected the further south you travel across the state. Southwest winds will be strong today averaging 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35-40 MPH possible. Skies will clear out early tonight as the front sweeps off to our east.
Sunshine will return in full force for the end of the week Friday as high pressure builds into the region. The sunny and dry weather will be short-lived though as rain returns for the start of the weekend. An area of low pressure will move out of the Great Lakes on Saturday then pass through the Gulf of Maine late Saturday night and Sunday. This storm is expected to bring us wet, breezy and cool conditions Saturday. Saturday's high temperatures will only be in the mid- 50s to around 60°. The rain will wind down from west to east Saturday night as the storm moves to our east.
Upper level energy over the area Sunday and Monday will keep things rather cloudy and bring us the chance for a few showers. Temperatures will remain cool Sunday with highs in the 50s to near 60°, slightly warmer Sunday with highs in the 60s.
Today: partly to mostly cloudy. Scattered showers possible mainly north of Dover-Foxcroft and Lincoln. Windy and mild. Daytime highs between 65°-75°. Southwest winds 15-25 MPH with higher gusts becoming northwest late in the day.
Tonight: mostly clear. Lows between 36°-46°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.
Friday: lots of sunshine with highs between 62°-68°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH becoming south late.
