Forecast 05-26-08
A warm front is currently off to our southwest and will be our weather maker for Memorial Day. Look for partly cloudy skies to make way for more clouds later in the afternoon. As the front nears and daytime heating is at a maximum there is a good chance of pop up showers across central Maine. At this point it looks like the mid-coast and downeast will be spared of any precipitation until the evening hours. During Monday evening a batch of scattered rain showers will cross the state ahead of an approaching cold front. By Tuesday morning that cold front will be here and showers and thunderstorms will be statewide. Downeast will have the best chance of being in the path of a thundershower. Skies will partially clear Wednesday as a small ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. Those partly cloudy skies will become mostly cloudy by Thursday, and with a disturbance moving through the upper levels we may see rain showers Thursday afternoon.
Today: Increasing clouds. Afternoon showers. High 66- 76°. Winds south 5-10mph.
Tuesday: Morning showers and thunderstorms. Then mostly cloudy. High in the mid 60's.
Wednesday: Variably cloudy. High in the upper 50's to low 60's.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. High in the low 60's.
Friday: Mostly sunny. High in the 60's.
