Forecast 05-22-08

Post by Outspoken on Thu May 22, 2008 6:13 am

The upper level low pressure system that we've been talking about the past few days will finally cross the state during the next 24 hours. This will bring us more clouds and more widespread shower activity for today and tonight. With more clouds expected today and some slightly cooler air sliding into the region, temperatures will be a little cooler today than they have been the past few days. The upper low will pull away from the region during the day Friday. Moisture wrapping around the upper low combined with a trough passing through the state will result in more cloudiness Friday and a few showers especially during the morning. As the trough moves off to our east during the afternoon and evening hours, the showers will diminish and northwest winds will help to dry things out.

We'll see some lingering clouds to start out early Saturday with skies expected to turn sunny as the day progresses. Temperatures will top off mainly in the 60s Saturday afternoon. High pressure will dominate our forecast for Sunday with lots of sunshine and highs near 70°. A cold front moving into the area on Memorial Day will bring clouds back into the state and some showers mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. We'll keep you posted on the latest forecast details with regards to Memorial Day as we get closer.

Today: variably cloudy with showers likely, a thunderstorm possible. High temperatures between 55°-63°. West/southwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Tonight: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows in the 40s. Winds will become northwest 5-10 MPH.

Friday: mostly cloudy with showers possible especially during the morning. Highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Saturday: becoming sunny. Highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Sunday: mostly sunny with highs in the mid-60s to near 70°.

Memorial Day: increasing clouds. A few afternoon showers possible. Highs in the 60s.
