Forecast 05-21-08
Widely scattered showers expected today as a weak disturbance approaches from the west. We're seeing a few showers in spots this morning associated with an area of low pressure passing south of Nova Scotia. This low will continue to slide out to sea east of New England this morning, taking the showers with it. We'll then see a break in the shower activity and possibly some breaks of sunshine this morning into the early afternoon. Clouds will become more prevalent this afternoon and we'll start to see some more showers popping up as the weak disturbance gets closer to the state. The upper low that we've been referencing the past few days will finally move into the state later tonight keeping us cloudy with scattered showers during the overnight hours.
We're in for another cloudy and cool day Thursday with numerous showers as the upper low moves through the state. The upper low will pull away from the region during the day Friday. A trough will pass through the state Friday morning giving us a chance for a few showers during the morning hours. Drier conditions will prevail during the afternoon as the trough exits the area and northwest winds take over. Expect skies to clear out Friday night, leading to some beautiful sunshine for the holiday weekend. High pressure building through the Great Lakes will bring us lots of sunshine Saturday and Sunday with warmer temperatures. Weekend high temperatures will range from the mid-60s to low 70s.
Today: variably cloudy with a few showers possible especially this afternoon. High temperatures will top off between 58°-65°. Variable wind 5-10 MPH.
Tonight: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows in the 40s. Light and variable wind.
Thursday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs between 57°-63°. Light winds will become northwest 5-10 MPH.
Friday: mostly cloudy with showers possible during the morning, drier during the afternoon. Skies will clear out at night. Highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s.
Saturday: partly to mostly sunny. Mild with highs in the mid-60s to near 70°.
Sunday: mostly sunny with highs in the mid-60s to low 70s.
