Forecast 01-04-08
From the TV5 Forecast Center:
Quiet weather will be the rule for the next several days. An upper level disturbance and associated warm front will move through the state later this morning into the afternoon. Clouds associated with the warm front moved into the state late last night and will be with us for the morning hours. There are a few flurries/snow showers showing up on radar with the cloudiness as well so some spots may see a few snowflakes this morning. Otherwise expect the clouds to slide east of the region later this morning with some sunshine returning to the state this afternoon. The big news today will be the warmer temperatures. High temperatures will top off in the upper teens to low and mid-20s this afternoon thanks to a west/southwest wind. Considering temperatures only managed to reach the single numbers Thursday, it'll still be chilly today but if you have to be outdoors, things will fell much better. High pressure will build back into the region Saturday giving us some sunshine to start the weekend. Southwest winds this weekend will continue to push milder air into New England with temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s Saturday and in the 30s Sunday. An upper level disturbance passing through the region Sunday will give us a few clouds Sunday morning followed by sunshine for the afternoon.
A weak cold front will cross the state later Monday. Clouds associated with the front will move into the area Monday morning. We may see a rain or snow shower in spots with the frontal passage Monday afternoon. It looks like the front will then stall out just south of the state Monday night then move back to the north as a warm front Tuesday. Expect clouds to stick around for the day Tuesday along with the threat of a rain or snow shower as the front crosses back through the state.
The next chance for any significant precipitation looks to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday morning. It's a little early at this point but right now it looks like a rain changing to snow before ending type of event for the latter part of next week. Colder air will return to our forecast late next week into the weekend.
Today: morning clouds and a few flurries will give way to partly cloudy skies this afternoon. Not as cold with afternoon high temperatures expected to top off between 18°-25°. Southwest wind 5-10 MPH becoming west.
Tonight: partly cloudy and cold. Lows between 2°-12°. West wind 5-10
MPH.
Saturday: partly to mostly sunny. Highs between 28°-34°. Light and variable wind.
Sunday: morning clouds then becoming partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the 30s.
Monday: increasing clouds with an afternoon rain or snow shower possible. Highs in the mid-30s to low 40s.
Tuesday: mostly cloudy with a scattered rain or snow shower possible. Highs in the mid-30s to low 40s.
