Forecast 01-03-08

Post by Outspoken on Thu Jan 03, 2008 6:33 am

From the TV5 Forecast Center:

High pressure will dominate our forecast today, providing us with lots of sunshine. Despite the sun-filled skies though, temperatures will only reach the mid-single numbers to mid-teens for highs. Northwest winds will remain a bit breezy today giving us wind chills between -13° to +3° at times. Skies will start clear tonight and with light winds, temperatures will drop to below 0° readings for most inland locations, expect lower single numbers on the plus side for coastal locales. Clouds will move in late tonight as an upper level disturbance approaches from the west. The disturbance may push a couple snow showers into far northern and northwestern Maine, otherwise dry conditions are expected tonight.

Our weather will remain nice and quiet for Friday right through the weekend. An upper level disturbance passing to our north on Friday morning will provide us with a few clouds to start the day. High pressure will build back into the region Saturday giving us a sunny start to the weekend. Southwest winds this weekend will bring milder air back into New England with temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s Saturday and in the 30s to near 40° on Sunday. An upper level disturbance passing through the region Sunday will give us clouds a few snow showers early Sunday followed by sunshine for the afternoon.

A ridge of high pressure will slide into New England early next week keeping sunshine in our forecast for Monday. The warming trend will also continue. Southwest winds will push temperatures into the low 40s in spots Monday afternoon. There are no big storms in sight through the middle part of next week. We could see some rain showers later next week, otherwise the next several days look dry so enjoy it.

Today: lots of sunshine. Frigid with high temperatures only between 6°-15°. Northwest wind 10-15 MPH will give us wind chills between –13° to +3° at times.

Tonight: clear skies to start followed by increasing clouds late. Far northern and northwestern locations may see a few snow showers late. Overnight lows will range from –10° to +2°. Light northwest wind becoming southwest.

Friday: a few early clouds then partly to mostly sunny. Afternoon highs will top off in the 20s. Southwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Saturday: mostly sunny. A bit milder with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Sunday: morning clouds and possibly a few snow showers then becoming partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the 30s to near 40°.

Monday: partly sunny with highs in the mid-30s to low 40s.
