Lincoln to hire new manager

LINCOLN, Maine — The town is due to hire a new town manager at a special meeting next week, Town Council Chairman Steve Clay said Tuesday.

Clay set a special meeting of the council for 6 p.m. Monday for members to review and possibly approve a tentative offer made to one of two job finalists, he said. Because the process is confidential, he declined to identify the candidates and spoke of them only generally.

“They have worked in municipal government for many years,” Clay said.

The town received 22 applications for the position, which is being filled temporarily by interim Town Manager Lisa Goodwin, who is also the town clerk. Goodwin was named to replace Town Manager Glenn Aho, who left Lincoln for the city manager’s position in Auburn in June.

She has been paid an additional $500 a week as interim manager, handling duties as town manager, town clerk and town office manager and has been working a great many extra hours, including Saturdays regularly.

No final salary range has been set for Aho’s replacement. Aho earned about $70,000 as Lincoln’s town manager when he left for Auburn.
