LINCOLN, Maine - Comedian Bob Marley will headline this year’s Homecoming on July 18.

Appearing on "The Late Show" with David Letterman, "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, "Late Night" with Conan O’Brien and "The Late Late Show" with Craig Ferguson and Craig Kilborn, Marley is easily the biggest act to hit Homecoming, Shelly Crosby, the town’s events coordinator and Recreation Department chief, said Friday.

"We’re quite excited that he’s headed this way," Crosby said. "He’s big, and from what I hear, he consistently sells out wherever he goes in Maine."

Marley will appear at 7 p.m. July 18, at Mattanawcook Academy.

More than 8,000 people attended last year’s Homecoming events, which included a beach barbecue, used-book sales, craft fairs, children’s games, yard sales, dinners, alumni reunions, fireworks, concerts, the parade, and lots of food and beverages.

About 600 people attended the street dance festival; fireworks at Cobb Field drew about 1,300; and about 440 people came to the bounce house and the three-on-three basketball tournament at Prince Thomas Park.

Forty-seven antique vehicles came to the car show; Howland’s All-Star Little Leaguers lost to Lincoln’s 14-6; and almost all of the vendors at the food court in the municipal parking lot off Main Street reported being sold out.

It is hoped Marley will draw more people than last year, Crosby said. Tickets are on sale at the Lincoln Recreation Office for $23 each for floor seating and $20 each for bleacher seating.
