WILTON -- The Kids' Summer Arts program will provide a place to let young imaginations soar.

The Foothills Arts Center teachers will offer programs from a one-hour class to week-long day camps. Youngsters who want to draw, paint, act, sing, sculpt plaster masks, hunt dinosaurs, and make wearable art can participate during the weeks of July 21, July 28, and August 4.

Children ages 3 to 9 can participate in the day camps and classes in the region's new community arts center in downtown Wilton.

"Our teachers are professional artists who enjoy sharing their ideas and talents with people of all levels of experience," director Anne Geller said. "They create a supportive, relaxed, fun atmosphere in which they encourage creative thinking."

Danielle Guerrette is a Mt. Blue Middle School art teacher. David Hart, an actor, singer, and visual artist, has worked with SAD 9 students, and Kim Jacques teaches art and focuses on creating a story within her work, Geller said. A parent or an authorized adult must accompany toddlers. Age-appropriate groupings include sessions for ages 3 to 6 and for children entering first through fourth grades, Geller said. For a brochure and registration form, contact Director Anne Geller at Foothills Arts Center, 645-7117 or info@foothillsarts.org.

The Foothills Arts Center is located in the Bass-Wilson Building in Wilton. Western Maine community supporters organized in 1989 and opened the region's community arts center in April.
