Warning for Verizon Online users...
Recently I have received Email messages that state they are from "Verizon Online Access Services" and "Verizon Online Billing". Having been burned in the past (at a very expensive cost, I might add), I contacted Verizon Central to get some answers on this. It would seem that with the takeover of Verizon by Fairpoint Communications, the spyware and "phishers" are on the move. Don't be too quick to just "click" when you think you should. Be sure to check with your provider first.
The Email I received from the supposed "Verizon Online Billing" asks for a credit card as a "backup" payment method. (Red Flag)
The Email I received from the supposed "Verizon Online Access Services" stated that a Trojan virus had been detected in my system. I don't use Verizon Security, so that is not possible. I have my purchased a very tight security system that would have alerted me to any such activity and automatically quarentined it. (Red Flag)
Just remember, if it doesn't ask you to "log in" to your account, it's most likely NOT from Verizon.
Just a friendly warning to keep people's computers safe.
