Re: Tax Rebate Checks schedule...
Yeah. These are the ones that are supposed to help boost "this year's" economy.
So much for that, huh. Might as well have waited until the end of the year and hope for boosting NEXT year's economy.

Well, by August/September or later the economy may be so far in the red that this isn't going to make any difference anyway. It probably takes more to process the checks than they are worth!
Re: Tax Rebate Checks schedule...
...and to think they thought we would spend it to pay off back-debts.
Well, duh...
I figure at the rate that oil prices are rising, the basic $600 rebate should be enough for oh-h-h-h
.........100 gallons toward next winter's heating. They keep stalling about using the "R" word and yet I see no reason to stall. They need to just say it already and get it over with. I suppose the one good thing is that the money is pretty much guaranteed to stay in-state. By the time we get the rebates, no one will be able to afford to travel anyway.

Well, duh...
Re: Tax Rebate Checks schedule...
Since the announcement of the intended rebates to "boost the economy", I have seen several economists recommend using the money to "purchase". The majority of them have said that the only way to help "rescue" the United States from a possible recession is to inject the refunds back into the economy. They recommended NOT using the money to help pay off credit debts. They went so far as to state that doing so would not help the economy stabilize. I have also heard them say in the same conversations that more Americans are running up credit debts in an attempt to stay afloat and purchase everyday necessities. Does anyone else besides me find anything contradictory in those two statements?
For the first time since the announcement of the rebates, I listened to an economic advisor state on the "Today Show" that the only thing Americans should be concerned with is rescuing ourselves financially. She stated that the best thing we as Americans can do to rescue the economy is to reduce our OWN debts. Start with any credit cards or other type of credit debts with the highest interest and pay them off first. Then concentrate on the next highest interest debt and work your way down the list. She stated that these other "economists" were not speaking in the best interests of the people, but rather in the best interest of the economy. Rescue your own credit. Pay off your "temporary" debts and eventually manage to put more money into your own pockets instead of the pockets of the lenders.

yeah right, easier said than done
Let your anger be your energy.
Age is a wise thing to possess.
Faith is connected to hope and hope means believing in spite of the evidence and then watching the evidence change.
Slowing down gives us a sense of who we are and helps us pay attention to little gracious details.

Re: Tax Rebate Checks schedule...
I know how you feel. I don't get mine until the first week of September.
So much for the original date of May as a "jumping off" date for the first mailings.
Somehow, I just knew it was too good to be true.
